Chapter 1-The New Girl

Beast Boy bound into the room, a strange girl in tow.

“This is Terra guys.” He announces, staring at the girl in longing. Raven glanced up from her book uninterested in the new girl. She was stunning: long blonde hair with deep blue eyes you’d get lost in. Starfire leaping up from her seat beside Raven, zoomed over to Terra.

“Oh I do hope we can be the bestest of friends” Starfire said exclaimed, yanking Terra into a bone crushing hug.

“S-sure” Terra gasped in pain managing to lock eyes with Raven. Raven so used to controlling her emotions was shocked to feel her stomach jolt. Swiftly Raven pulled her hood up to hide her surprise and glided quickly out of the room. Starfire noticed Raven’s sudden departure but was too engrossed with her new friend to follow her.

Raven sat on her bed; pulling back her hood she rubbed her forehead irately. She thought again about Starfire hugging Terra and the feeling in her stomach intensified. Raven groaned in frustration, she could not let this go on.

“Azarath Mentrion Zinthos.” Raven hummed in form of meditation. The image on Starfire and Terra flashed across her eyes. A vase shattered to pieces, her desk fell over and the lights flickered. Why was this bothering her so much? She needed to clear her head. Phasing through her bedroom window she left unnoticed and emerged into the cool evening air.

Starfire, wanting to include Raven in the fun floated down the corridor to her room.
“Friend Raven, why don’t you come have fun with us, the boys are playing the video games and Terra so very wants to meet with you.”

The door was left ajar and Starfire peered into the room, she was stunned by the sight before her. Pieces of a vase on the floor, books scattered all over the place the place was a mess. All of Starfire’s joy melted away and she stopped levitating, dropping to the floor. Where was Raven?

Raven drifted through the city for hours struggling to understand her emotions today. Why was she feeling so strange? She finally gave up and set course for home.

The tower was dark and silent when she returned; just the way Raven liked it. Turning towards the kitchen, she sought to satisfy her hunger. Opening the fridge she searched through day old pizza, Beast Boy’s tofu and another one of Starfire's mystery dishes. Settling for the pizza Raven was taken completely by surprised as Starfire crashed into her, pulling her into one of her famous hugs.

“Friend Raven! You have returned.”

She stepped back from Raven to question her, but before she could get another word in Raven had phased through the floor, leaving Starfire standing in the dark kitchen alone.

Panting Raven sat curled up on her bed. Starfire had really startled her, her emotions were haywire. A mixture of fear, surprise and a feeling she had not often experienced, delight were beginning to overpower her. Why was she feeling joyful? She hardly ever felt pure happiness. It couldn’t possibly be because she felt Starfire against her; she had only been gone a few hours.

Had something awoken feelings deep inside her for Starfire? Raven was too tired by now to think about this unwelcome emotion. She took off her cloak and slid under the bed covers, falling asleep instantly.
